One Cost Director Richard Murcott was given a unique opportunity to crew on a Yacht sailing back from the West Indies to Europe. The five week trip of some 3,400 miles was made up of two legs; the first from Antigua to the Azores and the second from the Azores to La Coruna in Northern Spain.
“What a fantastic experience which challenged me at all levels. Nothing was simple and everything you take for granted in everyday life went out of the window.”
Richard, first left with fellow crew, Skipper Bob Bowen, John Mawson and Matthew Thompson pose next to the pictorial “footprint” Richard painted on the harbour in Horta on the Island of Faial in the Azores to celebrate the safe crossing. The harbour walls are festooned with pictures, the painting of which has become a yachting custom for those making this epic crossing.

Stuart, with a proven track record in the kitchen and managing restaurant operations, joins the One Cost team as Existing Account manager.
“With the ever increasing number of clients we work with, it is critical that we follow through and stay in touch with our clients to ensure that they gain the best from the work we do. One of my key responsibilities will be helping our clients interpret our management information to enable them to deliver both short and long term profit improvements for their business.”
Stuart brings a wealth of knowledge relating to the operational management of kitchens and restaurants. With good product and industry knowledge, he understands the pressures of working in the restaurant industry. Experienced at working at a highly involved level with purchasing and cost control, he has a proven track record in developing strategic plans to improve profitability.
Outgoing, he has an interest in motor sports and would have been a racing driver in another life. He likes trying new experiences and is always looking out for a new restaurant or bar to visit. In his quieter moments Stuart is involved in rebuilding an old Land Rover – very slowly. He also enjoys the chance to escape reality with a good book.
In his madder moments he has taken part in several strange efforts to raise money for charities which have included abseiling from the Runcorn Bridge and the Radio City tower in Liverpool city centre.
